This set of guidelines provides guidance for customers using E.L.S to provide supporting energy in parallel with the distribution systems of licensed distribution network operators (D.N.O). These help maintain the integrity, safety and quality of grid supply.
Furthermore, Non - D.N.O energy suppliers inceasingly seek to reduce their energy import demands as internal generation costs reduce, and whilst increased D.N.O export costs are high. Generally an E.L.S may be employed in the following situations:
Northern Electrical provide G100 generator control hardware to realise customers power generation needs. We design and manufacture our hardware in our Sheffield factory to customer requirements and the strict demands of the G100 protocol.
Generator export limitation is subject to the Export Limitation Scheme guidelines (E.L.S). This is also referred to as G100. These are intelligent local generator controllers, controlling the local output to the D.N.O (the main grid). They may increase or decrease the output to the D.N.O dependent subject to current demand. Sometimes the DNO may signal the local controller to reduce local generator output if it is excessive. This may be necessary if the D.N.O is encountering operational difficulties at their end and they want to stop power reaching the D.N.O site from ELS participants during D.N.O maintenance.
